The requirements to apply include:
- The personal investment of at least $200,000 to establish or purchase a business in Ontario
- A verifiable net worth of at least $400,000, and 24 months of business experience within the last 60 months.
- Applicants must also have language proficiency in either English or French at a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark 4 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- They must commit to creating or purchasing a business in Ontario outside of the Greater Toronto Area, actively manage the business, reside in Ontario for at least 75% of the time they are establishing the business, and make a capital investment with the intention of making a profit.
- They must also create at least one permanent full-time job for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Finally, applicants must sign a business performance agreement upon receiving a work permit and meet its terms to receive a nomination for permanent residence.
